It was all part of the mystery, from the bustling set to the caravan dressing rooms, harnesses for flying to the polystyrene chunks masquerading as rocks. As a child, the way they weaved a tale for the screen was pure magic - igniting a dream to become the storyteller behind the lens.
Life has always been a blend of eccentric characters and colourful situations. My feet are firmly in contrasting worlds, which shapes my approach and work through a lens of compassion and reciprocity. Growing up, home was a hub for aunties, uncles, cousins, and people I didn't even know, calling our parents Mum and Dad.
Our door was always open.
An award-winning photographer and director, I've had an eclectic journey into photography. From my early training in HMUA and beauty, to working with diverse portfolios in marketing, sales, and recruitment, my path has been shaped by a fascination with humanity and culture. It led me to working behind the camera, weaving stories through wedding, fashion and lifestyle photography, before settling into the commercial photography where my passion lies in capturing the unexpected, the magic - in every collaboration.
Photography is more than just a medium of expression to me. It's a powerful transformation tool to influence impactful social and environmental change from inception to execution. Inspiring a world where everyone, especially our rangatahi, see themselves represented and celebrated.
Kia ora. Ko Emma Baker tōku ingoa. Kō Ngāti Kahungunu ki Heretaunga rātou, ko Ngāi Tuhoe, ko Ngāti Awa ōku iwi. Based in Aotearoa, I'm lucky to have the Waitākere Ranges rainforest as my backdrop and roots in Te Matau a Māui / Hawkes Bay. In my spare time, you'll find me with my fave people. Coffee in hand and music playing. Close to home, among the trees overlooking the city.
Nau mai, welcome. My door is always open.
